Refrigerator Not Cold Enough

We want and hope that our refrigerator will work well and keep our food at the right temperature at all times. A fridge is supposed to be working 365 days a year without any issues and variations in temperature. This is the case most of the time, the day it doesn’t, we need to find the problem and fix it quickly. The first indication that something is wrong with the temperature of your refrigerator is often found out when you realize that liquids are not as cold enough. First and for all, don’t panic. Here is a list and little description you can check yourself, before calling an appliance repairman

Refrigerator light and power plug
Sometimes the problem very simple, i.e.: the unit is not plugged in or there’s a blown fuse. The first step is to check that the refrigerator unit light is on and that it’s plugged in. It can get unplugged while we move it or try to reach for something in the back or the side. If it is on, then it might be the fuse in the back that’s blown up.

Temperature settings
While taking stuff out, you might have switched it off mistakenly, it does happen sometimes. If you realize you did, readjust the temperature to be set between 36-38 degrees Fahrenheit.

Doors, hinges, and door gaskets
Check the door seals to make sure they close fully and that the hinges are not slacked. Also check the seal to avoid cracks, which can cause loss of cool air and Check for condensation around the sides of the doors.

Condenser coils
Over time, refrigerator’s condenser coils get dirty up with debris, it will automatically make your fridge work harder therefore loosing cold air. To avoid that issue, you should regularly vacuum the condenser coils located in the back or under the refrigerator.

Fan
The fan’s purpose is to blow the cold air throughout the refrigerator and freezer. Make sure it is working properly. If the fan is malfunctioning, it can cause the refrigerator’s temperature to fluctuate.
