Common Refrigerator Problems

Your fridge is the most used appliance in your home… because it is running 24/7. Though refrigerators are meant to last, they can leak or actually work too hard because they are not maintained regularly. This is a list of common problems/solutions you can find useful if your refrigerator is giving you trouble.

  1. Refrigerator is Not Working at All
Make sure that the refrigerator is connected properly to the socket. If it is, check the circuit breaker or fuse.

  2. Water is Leaking from Under Your Refrigerator
If your refrigerator has an ice maker, this could occur because of a leak in the ice maker valve. Please make sure it is not blocked and water is circulating properly

  3. Water is Leaking Inside Your Refrigerator
Repair for these kinds of refrigerator problems is relatively simple. This has probably occurred because the drain tube has gotten blocked. The drain tube is normally located beneath or behind the refrigerator. Clean the drain tube with some hot water and bleach and unblock it.

  4. Frost Developing in Your Freezer
If you freezer is presenting a build up of ice and snow, the problem is with no doubt that the freezer door gasket is damaged and lets leaking the cold air. Therefore, with warm air coming in, it is forcing the freezer so it makes extra chills in the freezer and causing the ‘igloo effect.’

Check the gasket or freezer seal by putting a flashlight or battery-powered light inside the freezer with the light pointed directionally to the door. Get the gasket changed to solve the problem.

  5. Your Refrigerator is Constantly Running in Over Drive
This problem is typically caused because the condenser coils underneath the refrigerator are clogged with dirt. Switch off your refrigerator, and vacuum the coils to remove clogged dirt.

  6. Refrigerator is Cooling Too Much or Too Little
The thermostat settings are responsible for the cooling provided by the refrigerator. It could be off or is set to the wrong temperature. First check the thermostat if this problem occurs. If it persists, you need to take it for refrigerator repair.
