Dishwasher control panel

My Dishwasher is Too Fancy to Fix

Today’s dishwashers look intimidating. They have so many dials or push button controls and they dishwasher look so complex to repair. Its really not the case. With the exception of the actual control panel that’s present on the appliance, the basic design of the dishwasher – whether its LG, Samsung, General Electric, you name it – hasn’t really changed much over the last 20 years. We’ll give you a few tips and ideas to help repair your dishwasher but don’t’ forget that if you ever need help, we are only a short call away for an appliance repair specialist.

Things to know
Caution!!!! This is common sense but a good point to mention. Dishwashers are connected to power and water, that is to say electricity and water. THESE THINGS DON’T MIX, because if they do, you could be electrocuted. You must keep this in mind when thinking about repairing your dishwasher versus calling us to do a qualified appliance repair call. However, if you proceed, do so cautiously and be sure that the dishwasher is unplugged or the power to the appliance you want to repair is turned off. You can do this by tripping the main circuit at your home fuse box. If you don’t know how to turn off the electricity to your dishwasher, stop and call Kenco Services for a qualified repair.

Did you know that Dishwashers are connected to directly to the hot water supply (your water heater) and not to cold water? Some newer dishwashers actually pre-heat the water further but that’s not always the case. Water that is below 140 degrees Fahrenheit won’t actually get your dishes clean like you want (unless you have the pre-heat feature of a newer appliance). Before attempting any do-it-yourself repair, you should look for the water shutoff for the dishwasher which is typically located below the adjoining sink – after all, you don’t want the hot water to come out and spill on it.

Once you are safely ready to diagnose the problem with you dishwasher, you should also know the following: dishwasher parts can usually be swapped out and replaced as a whole part (or complete unit), which is often far more easier and even faster than taking out a whole unit, analyzing the problem, fixing ‘that one gasket,’ and putting back the whole part. If you are able to identify what’s the problem or what’s wrong with a unit part, you can take it out and bring it to a professional for validation – but you should find a shop that sells parts. You could then decide whether you should purchase a whole new part for the dishwasher appliance or have the old one repaired. We can help you with the dishwasher service call if you need help, we are highly skilled and trained for all appliance repairs.

If you are having any troubles with your dishwasher but you can't quite pin-point where the problem is, don't hesitate to call Kenco Services to book an appointment with one of our qualified appliance technicians today!
