Maintaining Fridge and Oven

5 Great Ideas to Keep Your Fridge Working Well

Planning a big event or for a holiday occasion sometime in the future? If so, follow these simple guidelines to help, in the weeks before the event, ensure that your fridge and other major home appliances are working well and that you’ll be in a good position to welcome your guests.

  1. Make sure your refrigerator door closes properly. You can test to find out if the fridge is broken or wasting energy by investigating whether the fridge door closes properly or all the way. You’ll need to get a piece of paper and close the refrigerator door with the paper in the way. IF the paper falls through, there is likely a problem with the seal and your fridge is wasting energy.
  2. Check that your fridge is level. If its not, it might be why your doors close to quickly, stay open or don’t quite seal properly.
  3. Once in a while, pull out your fridge from its standing place and vacuum out the fridge vents and coils. This will keep the refrigerator running more efficiently and reduce the amount of energy required to keep the fridge running smoothly.
  4. Change the water filter if your fridge has an ice maker or water dispenser. It should be changed every 6 months or so, or per the instructions in the manual. If you aren’t sure, call us or contact Kenco Services today!
  5. Put a reminder in your calendar to get regular preventative maintenance if you aren’t able to do it. This might include cleaning the condenser coils, the drain hole and drip pan, as well as the gaskets. This will prolong the life of your refrigerator and bar fridge
